Therapy that goes further than the therapy room.
Mental Health Occupational Therapy is one of the few clinically rigorous, evidence-based approaches to mental health that is as practically focused as it is therapeutically deep.
You get one OT. Behind them, a whole team.
Most private mental health OT in the UK is delivered by individual clinicians working alone. We do it differently. Every Purpose People client works directly with one experienced OT — and that OT is supported by a team of 35 OTs and OTAs, weekly peer supervision and a shared clinical model. The depth of one clinician, the breadth of the team.
If your needs shift, or a different specialism would help, we have the colleagues to bring in. You don’t start again somewhere new. The continuity stays with us.
Held by our values: Compassion. Collaboration. Integrity.
A clinical profession, not a wellness practice.
Occupational therapy is a science-based, degree-level profession regulated by the HCPC and practised in health settings across the world. Its focus is occupation: the practical, purposeful activities through which people build identity, independence and a life that feels worth living. Mental health occupational therapy applies that clinical framework to the challenges that affect how people think, feel and function every day.
Working with the whole person, your environment, your daily life, your relationships and your sense of purpose, we specialise in real-world rehabilitation that moves clients beyond insight and into meaningful, lasting change.
Over the past 100 years, occupational therapy has brought together the pillars of good mental health: psychology, movement, nutrition, environment and sleep, alongside bespoke activity to treat and manage the full spectrum of mental health challenges. Our mission is to provide compassionate, solution-focused therapy that breaks the negative feedback loop and creates sustainable, positive change.
Insight doesn't always lead to action.
OT does both.
We're the UK's only private, team-based mental health occupational therapy practice. That means clinically rigorous, evidence-based, HCPC registered care, plus the practical know-how to help you actually do the things you need to do.
From Jill and Nicky.
We founded Purpose People to make Mental Health Occupational Therapy accessible beyond the NHS. Mental Health OTs are uniquely placed to bridge the gap between insight and action, combining psychological understanding with practical rehabilitation to create meaningful change at home, at work and in the community.
We are privileged to do this work, and we are committed to supporting lasting recovery for you or your loved one.

A genuine clinical partnership.
Our OTs and OTAs work in genuine clinical partnership. Every client benefits from two professional perspectives throughout their care. This built-in collaboration brings both breadth of skill and a natural layer of clinical oversight, ensuring your treatment is consistently well-considered and robustly delivered.
Where other professionals are involved in your care, we work alongside them too, taking the insights and progress made in other settings and translating them into real-life function.
Together, we can help you build a life full of activity, progress and renewed purpose.
